Generally there will be two main method to get the crude oil
1 Mechanical Press/extraction- mainly heavy duty oil press and extractor, cheaper but higher oil remain in the dregs.
2. Chemical Extraction–mainly solvent extraction which is costly but will get much lower fact contained in the remains.
Usually, we can combin the two kinds to get more crude oil but in lower cost. All these process will be designed according to capacity and requirement.
Crude Oil contains a lot impurities, large, small even chemical one, before it is suitable for cooking, the should be a process called refinery.Which contains Nenutralization, Bleaching(Continous, batch), Degumming, Dewaxing(winterization) and so on.
